Examples: zero-shot and few-shot
Some things are easier to show than to describe. Three good examples can fix a format that a page of instructions couldn't, and three bad ones can quietly bias every answer.
In this lesson you'll learn to
- Decide when to use zero-shot instructions and when examples will help.
- Choose a small set of examples that is varied, realistic and covers the edge cases.
- Spot the ways examples bias outputs, such as copying length, phrasing or the most common label.
- Lay out examples clearly, and pick relevant examples per request when the set grows.
