Prompt optimisation
Once you have an eval, you can stop hand-tweaking prompts and let a program search for better ones. Tools such as DSPy and GEPA rewrite instructions and pick examples, score each try on your eval, and keep what wins.
In this lesson you'll learn to
- Explain automatic prompt optimisation as a search scored by your eval.
- Describe how DSPy separates what a step does from the prompt text, so optimisers can rewrite it.
- Explain how GEPA uses written feedback on failures to propose better instructions.
- Decide when optimisation is worth its cost, and guard against overfitting the eval.
